Golf · Top 20

PGA: Mexico Open

Possibly some nice value Top 20 picks as I think the market is too top-heavy. Brice Garnett @ 5/1 : he needs a fast start if this one is going to land. Playing well lately, 78th for Total Driving coupled with GIR 62nd for the season. As long as he finds the fairways and gets himself on the green, then I can see him being sub 70's. And that could be enough. Li Hao Tong @ 3/1 : he's played well at times this season and can hit it long, but he lacks consistency week to week. He does hit streaks, though. He has form here and I see him going low. Two singles and the double advised.

PGA: Mexico Open

Straight off the bat, or clubface, Wyndham Clark jumps out as the class act here. Double Major champion having a great season fresh off a break at a course that should suit him very well again. Could argue he might be a bit lacking in recent gameplay but his quality is all we want to be focusing on. At 13.5 and heading the market it may not seem like a great price, and it is true that there isn't a lot to play with if things don't go well, but if he plays as he has previously then it is his to lose. I'm leaving him off my list if picks, though, as I do like a few others for trading purposes. Isaiah Salinda @ 120 : best PGA finish was here last year with T7 , but won on Korn Ferry in 2024. Had a poor run this season but 11 last week showed he's back on track, and I like his chances here as long as his putting improves. Brice Garnett @ 420 : played well in their cut short Bermuda last week . Improving again week on week after a sequence of MCs. Not the longest off the tee but he has been putting in a good few sub 70 rounds lately. I'm happy to stick with him this week. Nick Dunlap @ 330 : struggling this season, but he has the game when his confidence is on the up. Breakout in 2024 with 2 wins has been followed by the solid if unspectacular since. Hit 3 sub 70s last week and he's 330 for a reason. However, this is not a strong field, bar Clark, and he could just keep that sub 70 run going here. Patrick Rogers @ 130 : good course form, pretty consistent when in lesser fields such as these, and has made the last 3 cuts on tour. I like him here for course form but also because he has decent length off the tee coupled with a nice putter when he gets hot. I'm banking on being back in Mexico as a booster for him.

The Week That Was Golf : Genesis and Bermuda

So the PGA ended up with 54 holes played due to bad weather and punters were left with a whole lot of 'what If's'. It's a nightmare scenario if you have a perms waiting on final round placings or players at nice odds building for a great final round. Not happy , but in future I will remember to trade earlier when weather is clearly playing a big part. Overall ? Well Ben Kholes did us proud with a great start and the trades made put profits on the board. Brice Garnett increased those with an amazing opening round and easy to Lay him from the 330 tipped. Good result. Genesis : bit of a washout . I thought Hidalgo was going to go low but didn't get there. Other 3 didn't really hit the numbers to get profits. Poor showing.

PGA Butterfield Bermuda

I like 2 Bens here : Ben James and Ben Kholes , and have my betting plan mostly based around the 2 of them in match bets daily and also over 72 holes. If Vince Whaley was 100% over his rib injury that forced him to WD from Utah then he would be a solid pick also, but in his absence I will have a couple of bigger-priced players that may just find a run of form. Ben James @ 13 BF : worthy fav and in top form. Top 5 finishes of late coupled with a solid iron game that will be needed in windy conditions. He is short at 13 but I do feel he's got it all laid out for him this week. Ben Kholes @ 42 BF : bigger price than I expected so he's well in here. Very consistent player without getting ultra competitive for the win, but it's getting closer and closer. Rock solid for Top 20 also. John Parry @ 65 BF : plays well on windy links courses, as well as coastal layouts, so he can maintain his current progress by settling into the course layout in tough conditions with confidence. Very likeable guy and deserves greater success. Brice Garnett @ 330 BF : my wild card based on his solid record on coastal tracks. Posted a 30 and 21 finish in the recent past and he's made the cut in his last two starts. Not one who jumps out at you, but given the wind and rain forecast, I think there's a decent enough case to be made for an outlier to outrun the odds.

GENESIS Championship

First up is one from the home team is JUNGHWAN LEE @ 360 BF : he has terrific course form over last few years: 10-1-13-4-11-24 , plus his most recent form includes 1st and 3rd in last 4 played. He plays on the Korean tour, which is a much lower level than this, but the course experience and the less than stellar field of entrants make him worth a play. Wenyi Ding @ 180 BF : out of form most of the season and not really on anyone's radar as such. Last two weeks have seen a marked improvement, with a nice T37 in Spain followed by a very good T23rd in Macao on the Asian Tour. He was also part of the winning team with China at the Asian Games. All in all, he is on the up and at 180 it's a price I can play with, as he is a genuine talent and still young enough to be finding bursts of confidence on the back of good scores. Angel Hidalgo @ 48 BF : one of my main fancies, as he is just cranking out great scores week after week but falling short at crucial times. With 3 Top 5s in his last 6, but not going back to back with the form, it does give me a slight cause for concern in getting involved, but there is just something about his attitude that makes me believe he will get it done sooner than later. Missed the cut last year but he's matured a lot since then, and this type of course should suit his style of play. Thomas Detry @ 29 BF : in top form, looks confident with his game, and has been so close lately that you know he's in a great groove for the right tournament. Finished 7th last year and can be expected to turn up this week with a bag full of form! With 9-MC-8-20 last 4, and that MC just being a total blowout in Spain, his 4 sub 70's last week in India really showcased his ability to stay competitive with the right conditions. Good solid driver and a putter that gets hot?,,,,that's a guy who will relish the demands in Korea.

Bermuda and Genesis Golf

PGA Bermuda : The main element for me is the weather this week that's forecasted to be very windy. Here is a tournament that throws up HUGE priced winners time and time again , and that fact, plus windy conditions, means I will be ignoring the top end of the market, even though the fav is actually a golfer in red hot form. DWPT Genesis: Korea hosts this week, and you definitely want to have some natives on your side! It's a particular style of track, and experience gives you an edge. Sungjae Im stands out a mile but is way too short in the betting, while last week's winner, Chacarra, is a solid pick at around 11 if you think he can go back to back again. Key point this week is those that are on the 'bubble' for retaining their cards. You can guarantee a few breakout scores from struggling players as they are motivated to keep their Golden Ticket. I will look to select a few players that are ripe for back to lay , though not winning, along with a few that should be very competitive. There will be big odds doing well and I hope we can back up last week's win once again.

Golf Update in Play

Looking good for the headline pick of Chacarra, tipped @ 22 and leading, priced at 2.08 to Lay. We can call that a winner, as you would have laid him to bank good profits by now. There is always a chance that it is reduced to 54 holes, as the annoying stoppages due to weather continue daily. Why even bother hosting this when you know there is a chance of this type of weather?? It's a crowded leaderboard and we could easily see big moves if they do complete 4 rounds, so there is still some juice left in those chasing: Hillier @ 14 and Jamieson @ 26 would be my picks.

World India Champ: 18 hole match bet : Singles and Treble

Chacarra @ 11/10 to beat McIlroy WON I'm keen to be taking on Rory here and we have a great 1st round matchup with him vs Chacarra, and Chacarra is playing out of his skin. I have to have him @ 11/10 Lagergren @ Evs to beat Luiten Another match up with an in form player vs Joost Luiten! And Luiten joost hasn't been good enough recently. (See what I did there?) If form continues as it has the last few weeks, then this bet pops. Skov Olesen @ 9/10 to beat Weisberger Just the same theme: in form vs out of form. Olesen could easily have won 2 or 3 times this season but he finds ways to fail. However, he does get the rounds in and is competitve all the way. He should be too good here. Treble pays 7.98/1

DP WORLD INDIA : 4 selections

RESULT: WINNER! Eugenio Chacaqrra wins easily @ 22 on BF Hello Rory, Shane, and Tommy ...big names appear when the fees are right! You've got to be getting well paid to get those 3 to turn up here. It will be very hot and sticky and hot! Not the most enjoyable climate for what is an avg comp on the tour schedule. Stick to those that have course form and played well of late. Seems a sound strategy to me. Eugenio Chacarra @ 22 BF is my main pick at the top end of the market. In great form and maintaining it well week after week. He's won in India before, and placed in Top 10 twice here. That's good enough. He's also now 2nd in the Race to Dubai and will be very motivated to push on and get closer to Reed at no 1. J Lagergren @ 100 BF : good odds to trade with on a player who is still getting the job done if not actually winning. He should hit odds well below this after the top trio fail to show up well. J Campillo @ 290 : he's had form here in past , 52-10-11, plus he does throw in the odd brilliant performance when least expected. Finished 55th last week and with this place really demanding some love for it, then he may just find his groove. Yurv Premlall @ 840 : Yes, I will stick with the Boom or Bust boy as I know he will figure it out eventually and start to manage the course better. Another tree-lined track, which will mean he has to find those fairways. You'd think he would look at last week's abysmal driving stats and consider a new approach! Here's hoping.

Review of last week

Poor showing on both events. My picks fails to fire and no excuses to be made. I’m surprised how poorly it went but it’s a long season for those playing every week and maybe fatigue plays a part. Hopefully find profits this week in India.

Misc: PGA Tour: Baycurrent Classic: FRL

Small field and very tightly grouped at the top in terms of form and ability. I'm not that confident in outrights at the moment as I'd like to see how the 1st round pans out but I am happy to post a couple of picks for First Round Leader. Max Greyserman @ 60 BF ...already highlighted by Dave Tindall on BF, Max has previous for starting fast here with FRL last time at the course. He has been flying out with low scores elsewhere too so it's not a one off thing. I like the way his game is trending with 68/68 then 65/66 and 64/67 all in a row not long back. You can bet ew with most bookies.

OUTLIER PICK: Yurav Premlall: Boom or Bust

Result : BUST! ...as expected, he drove the ball everywhere but the fairway. Gave himself no chance of scoring well. He still has it within himself to win again soon. Premlall @ 750 BF .....He stunned the golfing world with his amazing 14 shot win just down the coast from this week's Open De Espana at the Catalunya Championship back in May. That really showcased this very talented South African's main strengths: a fearless attitude and natural power that can prove so advantageous on the right tracks. He hasn't really done much of note since then, but he has maintained his approach, which isn't always the best strategy when it comes to course management. Still young, though, and I am sure he will mature in this area and start to apply some smarts to his shots. The Black Course he will be playing this week is a tree lined venue which does place an emphasis on accuracy off the tee. Should Yurav continue to grip it and rip it, then he will undoubtedly find himself scrambling on some 2nd shots; however, he may also find some comfort being back in the area where his maiden tour win came and relax more than of late where he has been fighting the courses most of the rounds. It's a boom or bust bet and one that will let you know your fate pretty quickly. I am going to stick with him this week as my OUTLIER PICK as the price is juicy enough to get involved. And after backing Meronk week after week then leaving him out of the picks last week, I am not going to make that mistake again: trust your instincts when you see a player with talent getting into a groove again.

Result : LOST

Golf · OutrightUpdated 14 October 2026 at 10:48

Open De Espana

Result: No joy. Poor showing across the board, even though MJ Daffue gave a little hope with a 2nd-round 66 and could be dobbed but that really isn't a factor in the overall loss. Usually a happy hunting ground for the Spaniards of late with 4 from last 6, and will probably be so again this year, but there are a couple of very decent picks outside of a local completing a so far brilliant HOME record with Scotland, Ireland, Denmark and England all going to local natives. OUTRIGHT : all are bets for 'back to lay' on BF . with initial Lay being for stakes at 50% lower. eg back 60 lay for stakes at 30 ....that's the strategy to minimise risk but still leave some juice. Jayden Schaper @ 90 Betfair. He's been in good form and showing he's close to winning again , and after Top 5 and Top 10 places last 2 outings here, I don't think the course will be an issue. Missed the cut at Dunhill but the opening 75 was his undoing as he followed up with 70/67. And don't forget he won back to back this season already, and both in play-offs, so he's got the attitude for the fight. Marco Penge @ 34 BF, He has been in great form, threatening to win more than once lately. Some low scores posted as well, and as the defending Champion you know he likes the place so he ticks all the boxes for a punt at 34. MJ Daffue @ 160 BF. Big odds for a cracking shot at going low early doors. He's been in solid form and played well at last week's Dunhill which followed on from a brilliant T4 in Portugal: 61 being the highlight there. I think markets still underestimate him but he's been a good selection for me this season. No course form, though as he still plays all courses with confidence....that's not a worry. Julien Guerrier TOP 20 @ 3/1 . He posted a Top 15 finish in France which was a much needed sign of getting back on track after a wonderful 3/3 start to 2026 in UAE. He made a number of cuts and scored well enough before hitting a dry patch around visits to the UK. Back in sunnier climes in France he got his mojo back. Good solid run of results here and I think he's a standout punt for TOP 20 again.
